WhatsApp Permanently Ending Service on Older iPhones & Androids                                    

WhatsApp is going to permanent shut down their functioning in several smartphones and iPhones from 1st June 2025. They announced that they will shut by May 5th 2025, but WhatsApp was providing sufficient time to the users to prepare for it, to change their android version, and smartphones to run WhatsApp. From now, WhatsApp also requires their minimum android system requirements. Meta has announced that WhatsApp brings so many updates and features which are not supported in these devices. Here, we will mention, in which iPhones and Androids, WhatsApp will not be working:

Required Android Updates for WhatsApp

Meta has announced WhatsApp will only run on iPhone iOS 15.1 and Android 5.1 or more new updated versions. The devices which do not follow these criteria, WhatsApp will not run on those devices.

List of Androids and iPhones where WhatsApp will not be working

We have mentioned here the Androids and iPhones which have been affected due to having shortage updates:

WhatsApp will not be working on Among iPhone 5S, iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. It will stop functioning in these devices permanently. iPhone 6S, iPhone SE (1st Gen) and iPhone 6S Plus are having capacity of running of iOS15.8.4. This proof these phones will remain be active for WhatsApp as these run Android-15 version, but it will not support WhatsApp for longer time.

WhatsApp will completely stop functioning on Samsung Galaxy Note 3, Samsung Galaxy S4, Sony Xperia Z1, LG G2, Moto G (1st Gen), Moto E (2014), Samsung Galaxy S3, Motorola Razr HD, Huawei Ascend P6, and HTC One X. The smartphones holding Android 5.0 or earlier version will no longer support WhatsApp. It minimum requires base Android 5.1 to run.

Reason behind WhatsApp not working on Older Devices

WhatsApp is constantly updating their performances and security updates. As these older smartphones is not holding enough capacity to make new updates on WhatsApp functioning, this app is no more working on above-mentioned smartphones. Due to not support of advanced end-to-end protection, video calling and smart interfaces options, WhatsApp is no more being supported in these older devices.

Users need to upgrade their device with Android 5.1 and iOS15.1 or newer versions.
