WhatsApp is Working On A Dedicated App For Tablets: Here Is What We Know So Far

WhatsApp is reportedly working on a dedicated app for tablets. This app is dubbed as WhatsApp for tablets, which is under progress. Yet, the launching date of this app for Tablets is unknown. Currently,  WhatsApp has over two billion monthly active users. WhatsApp is one of the most popular messaging apps in the world. This app was developed with a very simple and easy interface to use. 

Over ages, WhatsApp was loaded with various features and also making the features way better through every update. But the only thing remains missing is a dedicated app for tablets. Luckily, this is going to change soon as reports suggest that the Meta-owned messaging app is currently developing a dedicated app for tablets.

For now, WhatsApp users are either using WhatsApp’s mobile app or WhatsApp Web for the access of  this messaging app on a tablet. While both these techniques are possible for users to access WhatsApp on a tablet, both the techniques have few limitations. 

As, Using WhatsApp Web on tablets is dependent on the web browser usage, it is not as hassle free as the rest of the desktop apps. When a user accidentally closes the web browser, WhatsApp will also get shut down. Coming to the usage of WhatsApp’s mobile app on a tablet, it is not exactly comfortable as the app is not tailored to the bigger form factor of a tablet. Hence, there is a need for a dedicated app for tablets which can fit in a screen that is bigger than a smartphone but smaller than a personal desktop.

As per the reports of WABetaInfo, the company has already started working on a separate app for tablets dubbed as ‘WhatsApp for tablet’. In the coming updates of WhatsApp’s mobile app, WhatsApp plans to introduce ‘WhatsApp for tablet’ using an in-app banner in the mobile app. This banner tends to inform every user that a new version of WhatsApp — WhatsApp for tablet — is available for beta testers.
