As a major part of Make in India, Telecom and IT minister Ashwini Vaishnaw disclosed that India will get its largest Apple iPhone manufacturing unit at Hosur near Bengaluru.
While speaking at the Gaurav Divas ceremony, the minister added, the Apple iPhone manufacturing company is planning to hire 60,000 people. Vaishnaw also informed that among 60,000 people, at least 6000 employees will be the tribals who reside near Ranchi and Hazaribagh, who have been trained for making Apple iPhones.
The Apple iPhone manufacturing unit has been tied up with Tata Electronics, for the iPhone production at Hosur near Bengaluru. This plant is going to be the largest iPhone production plan ever in India.
India also has Apple iPhone manufacturers like Foxconn, Wistron, and Pegatron which are better called as electronic giants, for their huge electronic production.Â
Amid Covid-19, Foxconn has faced supply chain disruption in China. So, it’s planning to hire 53,000 employees to make over 70,000 workers in its Tamil Nadu-based Indian manufacturing unit.
Within weeks after the new iPhone 14’s global introduction, Apple started its production in India. It further claimed that by the end of 2022, India will get 5% of the world’s manufacturing demand.

To encourage local manufacturing, the Indian government introduced the production-linked incentive (PLI) programme for big electronics businesses.
By the end of 2022, Apple hopes to shift 5% of the world’s manufacturing demand to India, producing 47,000 crore rupees worth of domestic iPhones in FY23.
