BSNL Targets September for 5G Rollout in Delhi & Major Cities — Here’s the Plan

If you are a BSNL user or are waiting for better internet speed, then this news is for you. Now BSNL's focus is on rapidly expanding 5G services. The company has announced that it will start 5G services in Delhi and other big cities by September 2025.

Where and When Will BSNL Launch 5G in India?

BSNL has so far installed about 1 lakh 4G towers across the country, out of which more than 70,000 have already been activated. BSNL will upgrade existing towers and launch a 5G network.

BSNL has started 5G service in many major areas of the country, including Jaipur, Lucknow and Hyderabad. Now its focus is on the launch in Delhi and other metro cities, which could happen by September.

BSNL’s Strategy: How the 5G Rollout Will Work

BSNL's 5G network is based on the 'Network as a Service' (NaaS) model. Under this, two technology partners will be selected, one main and one subsidiary. These partners will build and operate BSNL's 5G Core Network and RAN (Radio Access Network). BSNL will also share in the income generated from this service.

Is Your Current SIM Enough for BSNL 5G?

If you are already using BSNL's 4G SIM, then there will be no need to get a new SIM to get 5G service. As soon as the service starts in your city, you can go to your phone's Settings and select 5G in the Network option.

BSNL’s 5G FWA: Fast Internet for Homes and Offices

BSNL is going to provide high-speed broadband not only to mobile users but also to home and office users. Keeping this in view, the company has launched Quantum 5G FWA service in Hyderabad. In this service, users will get a speed of around 100 Mbps. The company plans to launch it soon in cities like Pune, Bangalore, Chandigarh, and Visakhapatnam.

5G by BSNL Is Almost Here

BSNL has now reached the final stage of converting its network from 4G to 5G. If everything goes according to plan, by September 2025, BSNL's 5G service will be started in many major cities of the country including Delhi. This will not only improve the speed, but the data quality and network cover will also be stronger.
