YouTube App Will No Longer Run On These iPhone And iPad Models - Know Why?

If you are using YouTube on an old iPhone or iPad, you might face some problems now. On June 3, 2025, YouTube released a new version of its app, which will now run only on iOS 16 or newer systems. This means that mobiles and tablets that have iOS 15 or older systems will no longer run the YouTube app.

On Which Devices YouTube Will No Longer Run?

Now the YouTube app will stop working in some old phones and tablets.

  • iPhone 6s
  • iPhone 6s Plus
  • iPhone 7
  • iPhone 7 Plus
  • iPhone SE (1st generation)
  • iPad Air 2
  • iPad mini 4
  • iPod touch (7th generation)

All these devices do not get the iOS 16 update, so YouTube has stopped supporting them.

Why Did This Happen?

YouTube updates its app from time to time so that it becomes better and safer. To use the new update, iOS 16 will now be required. Older devices do not have this system, so YouTube will not run on them.

What Can You Do Now?

1. Run YouTube in the browser: If the app does not run, you can watch the video by opening m.youtube.com in your phone's browser (such as Safari or Chrome).

2. Get a new phone or tablet: If you watch YouTube every day, getting a new device can be a good option.

3. Update the system: If you have a device that can run iOS 16, install the new system so that YouTube can work again.

If you have an older device like the one above, the YouTube app will no longer run on it.

But there is no need to panic, videos can still be watched from the browser.
