In March 2025, Xiaomi officially launched the Pad 7 and Pad 7 Pro in international markets, making their tablet available to a global audience. However, the company did not specify the duration of software updates for each device at that time.
Xiaomi has updated its Product Security Center to include the Pad 7 and Pad 7 Pro, by giving clear information for their software support timelines. And there is a remarkably large difference in the support received by each person.
Xiaomi revealed that, Pad 7 Pro gets only two updates.
As anticipated, the Xiaomi Pad 7 Pro is most likely to come with a higher price. Also, if we talk about the processor, then it has a powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset, which gives speed, power, and multitasking abilities.
Meanwhile, Xiaomi has revealed that the Pad 7 Pro will receive only a few software support cycles. The Pad 7 Pro will receive software updates for three years, whereas the Pad 7 is expected to get two major Android updates, up to Android 17, along with security updates until 2028.
As far as the Pad 7 is concerned, it provides a long software support timeline, which will receive four Android updates up to Android 19, and security updates will continue until 2031.
The Xiaomi Pad 7 is built to offer four years of software updates and six years of security patches, ensuring long-term support for users.
However, Xiaomi Pad 7 Pro users will get the 3 years of security updates and are going to get two years of software updates, making its support period shorter compared to the Pad 7.
It is not yet clear why there is such a large gap in update policies, while the more expensive device is receiving fewer updates. This article will be updated if Xiaomi provides an official statement.
