Samsung’s New Battery Protection Feature in One UI 7 and 8: What’s New and How It Works

Samsung has improved the Battery Protection feature in One UI 7 and the upcoming One UI 8 update to ensure longer battery health. The purpose of this new change is that your phone's battery works properly for a longer time and does not deteriorate quickly.

What's New in Samsung's Battery Protection?

In One UI 7, you get three options in the Battery Protection feature:

  • Basic Mode: The phone is charged up to 100%. Charging starts again only when the battery goes below 95%.
  • Adaptive Mode: Charging takes place up to 80% at night and the battery is charged up to 100% just before you wake up in the morning, depending on your sleep habits.
  • Maximum Mode: You can choose the charge limit yourself - like 80%, 85%, 90%, or 95%. This option is given via a slider so that you can improve battery health.

In One UI 8, Samsung has merged Adaptive Mode with Basic. Now only Basic and Maximum options are visible, in which the Adaptive feature works automatically. In One UI 7 and 8, this feature has now been made even easier so that everyone can use it.

How Can You Use This Feature?

If you are on One UI 7 or above, then you can turn on this feature by going to Settings > Battery > Battery Protection of your phone. Some users are also able to run it with the help of the "Activity Launcher" app.

Why Battery Protection Matters for You

Nowadays mobile batteries get damaged quickly due to being at 100% for a long time. This new feature of Samsung helps to protect the health of the battery for a long time by giving limited charging to it. If you want your phone to run for a long time without battery problems, then this feature can be very beneficial for you.
