On February 27, 2025, The Pokémon Company commemorated Pokémon Day with a live stream of Pokémon Presents, which was a celebration that unveiled a series of exciting announcements that thrilled Pokémon fans around the globe. The 19-minute presentation outlined new games, updates on current titles, and announcements of other media that marked the ongoing expansion of the franchise.

Pokémon Legends: Z-A

One of the biggest shocks of the show was an announcement of Pokémon Legends: Z-A, an entirely new game and one which is based wholly within Lumiose City in the Kalos region. The gamers will be able to choose Chikorita, Tepig, or Totodile as the starter Pokémon and live in an urban environment that is being heavily redeveloped. It uses real-time battle mechanics, based on Pokémon location and move timing, and introduces Mega Evolutions, which increases strategy in combat. Pokémon Legends: Z-A will be released later in 2025 for Nintendo Switch.

Pokémon Champions

The Pokémon Champions reveal was followed by a brand-new game focusing on multiplayer and competitive fighting. The game boasts importing features from titles like Pokémon Scarlet, Pokémon Violet, and Pokémon Home in order to cross-platform fight on Nintendo Switch, Android, and iOS. Although not every Pokémon that will be available on Pokémon Home can be utilized within Champions, the game is also another way through which trainers will be able to compete against global competition. There has been no release window suggested.

Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket

The Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket mobile trading card game is growing with the launch of the "Triumphant Light" set on Feb. 28. Mega Evolutions also return, a much-appreciated addition for seasoned players.

Pokémon Violet and Pokémon Scarlet

Part of Pokémon Day festivities, in-game events have been added to Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet. In the game, there is an exclusive option where players can receive a custom case for their Rotom Phone bearing a Mystery Gift code that was distributed during the Pokémon Presents. Red-, green-, and blue-type Pokémon raids are also present in the game, and Shiny variants of those are more likely to show up. A sequence of Tera Raid Battles with more challenging opponents such as Meowscarada, Skele Dirge, and Quaquaval are being set up, which will put trainers to different challenges.
