Reports have suggested that Nothing is likely to launch its first ever smartwatch.
According to sources, Nothing has sought out certification from the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) for their upcoming smartwatch. The CEO of Nothing, Carl Pei, has further fueled speculation regarding Nothing’s venture into the smartwatch market by sharing an image of the Galaxy 5 Pro on Twitter. While nothing is confirmed, and most reports are largely speculations, tech enthusiasts can anticipate an announcement in the near future.
The report regarding Nothing acquiring certification from the Bureau of Indian Standards also highlights the certification listing with the model number D395. This practically confirms that Nothing is indeed working on a smartwatch. This report also suggests that the Nothing smartwatch will likely be making an appearance later this year. But, it might happen separately from the upcoming Nothing Phone’s launch.
At the moment, primary focus has been on the upcoming launch of the Nothing Phone (2). It is scheduled to debut on July 11 and boasts many improvements and enhancements from its predecessor. The second version of the phone is to be a high-end smartphone which will feature flagship specs such as a powerful CPU and a significant amount of RAM.
Carl Pei’s acquisition of the Galaxy 5 Pro smartwatch is reportedly an act of assessing the competition. But his attempt to gain an insight to the smartwatch market was cut short. Pei saw that it was of little use but fans can still look forward to the release of the Nothing smartwatch quite soon.
In conclusion, it might be a while before we’ll get more news on the Nothing smartwatch, due to anticipation around the upcoming Nothing Phone. Yet, the Nothing smartwatch’s arrival is highly likely and we can imagine it to be positioned as a premium or mid-range product.
