The company expects lower shipments of high-end iPhone 14 models following a significant production cut at a virus-blighted plant in China. For these both models, waiting time has increased reportedly from 5 to 25 days. According to Apple Insider, analyst David Vogt from investment bank UBS has been tracking iPhone availability using data across 30 countries.
Apple iPhone 14 models are currently facing supply constraints but the Cupertino-based company has now fallen victim to China’s rigorous zero-COVID-19 policy.
On Sunday, Apple gave a statement that the facility is currently operating at significantly reduced capacity. They continue to see strong demand for iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max models. However, now they expect lower iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max shipments than they previously anticipated. But the company has not yet revealed the impact on production.
A previous Reuters report claimed that the production of Apple’s iPhones could decrease by up to 30% due to the restrictions of COVID-19 curbs in China. Market research firm Trendforce also gave a note that the iPhone maker has cut its iPhone shipments forecasts from the December quarter by 2-3 million units, which ows to the troubles at the Zhengzhou plant. Previously, the Apple company had a target to ship around 80 million units.
In a while, other Apple manufacturer Pegatron Corp. has begun to assemble iPhone 14 models in India. The Pegatron factory which is present near Chennai, Tamil Nadu, gets random orders for Apple’s entry-level models. The Pegatron factory began to make the handsets of iPhone12 earlier this year. For the unversed, Foxconn has already started manufacturing the iPhone 14 in the country. So, The Taiwanese manufacturer started assembling the iPhone 14 in September.
