
Huawei has taken a big step. After using HarmonyOS for smartphones and tablets till now, the company has launched its laptop for the first time with HarmonyOS 5. This means that now Huawei will use its own operating system, neither Windows, nor macOS.

Two new laptops launched
Huawei has launched two new laptop models:
- MateBook X Pro 2024: This is a powerful traditional laptop with the latest specs. Its starting price is 7,999 yuan (approximately ₹ 91,000).
- MateBook X Fold: This is a foldable laptop with an 18.5-inch OLED screen. It does not have a physical keyboard, it has a full touchscreen experience. Its price is 23,999 yuan (about ₹2.75 lakh).
Both laptops are quite premium, and come with HarmonyOS 5.
HarmonyOS 5 - what is special?
HormonyOS 5 was earlier only for smartphones, but now Huawei has prepared it for laptops as well. In this you get:
- AI assistant Celia that can create your documents and slides
- Microsoft Office alternative, WPS Office
- Fast performance and smooth interface
Huawei says that 150+ apps are available in HarmonyOS 5, and more new apps will come soon.
What will change with this?
This move by Huawei is very important for them, especially when they have US restrictions. By creating its own operating system, Huawei has shown that it wants to be independent. Now it remains to be seen how much users like HarmonyOS laptops.
