Recently WhatsApp partnered up with top metro service providers across India to make transportation easier for its users.
With the newly introduced digitised metro services, users can now book, buy, cancel and recharge tickets through an e-ticketing chatbot. In addition to that they can also access more information about train schedules, ticket prices, routes etc.
WhatsApp Business Messaging director of India, Ravi Garg, voiced his thoughts on the new update; “India’s digital revolution is now making public transport safer, smarter and more convenient. Supported Cities and Available Services
The new e-ticketing chatbot is available in cities Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bangalore and Pune. With the help of Mumbai Metro, L&T Metro Rail Hyderabad Ltd, Bangalore Metro Rail Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL) and Pune Metro, WhatsApp aims to elevate the travelling experiences of people. Users can use the e-ticketing chatbot by sending a simple ‘Hi’ to the designated phone number.
Residents of Mumbai can buy e-tickets for Mumbai Metro Services through WhatsApp. The tickets will be verified at the Automated Fare Collection gate. All the details of the journey including fares and issue date will be mentioned in the ticket. To activate, message; ‘https://wa.me/+918105556677‘.
Metro travellers of Hyderabad should send ‘Hi’ to e-ticket booking URL: ‘https://wa.me/+918105556677‘ to ping the chatbot which will be valid for only 5 minutes. Through this URL they can pay via an end-to-end encrypted digital payment for ticket booking.
For the users of Namma Metro in Bangalore, by sending ‘Hi’ to ‘https://wa.me/+918105556677‘ and the chatbot can be triggered. They can view fare details, card details as well as buy,cancel or recharge tickets using end-to-end QR ticketing service. It will be available in both English and Kannada.
Lastly the Pune Metro commuters can send ‘Hi’ to ‘https://wa.me/+918105556677‘ and book e-tickets by triggering the chatbot.
