Previously, OnePlus dropped the OnePlus 4 and directly jumped from the OnePlus 3 series to the OnePlus 5 series. The decision to drop the OnePlus 4 was influenced by cultural superstitions in Asian countries, where this number is associated with bad luck. Considering this trend, OnePlus is expected to skip the 14 and release the 15 as the successor to last year’s OnePlus 13. Rumors have already begun to leak important details about the OnePlus 15, while, as per the recent update, an important change could be the inclusion of a flat display that supports 1.5K resolution. Recently, on Weibo, famous tipster Digital Chat Station shared key specifications of the upcoming OnePlus 15.
OnePlus 15 may receive important battery and charging upgrades
According to Digital Chat Station, the OnePlus 15 is likely to come with the SM8850 chip, which might be the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2, and is set to deliver top-notch performance. By focusing on performance, the OnePlus 15 may emphasize power and efficiency, which might offer a camera system similar to the previous version.
The OnePlus 15 might come with an impressively big flat display and also have narrow bezels, which were offered by LIPO packaging. The front design of OnePlus might have a sleek and symmetrical appearance.
It’s expected that the device will feature a battery beginning with '7', likely to have a capacity of around 7,000mAh. The device could come with 100W charging, supporting both wired and wireless options. As per the reports, the OnePlus 15 has a larger battery and high-end features, but the brand is still working on the goal of maintaining a slim and light body.
DCS also announced that the device will feature the 0916 vibration motor for haptic feedback, an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, and a fiberglass rear panel. As we know that durability is also important, so the OnePlus 15 will have an IP68/IP69 rating for best dust and water protection.
According to the same source from a previous leak, the OnePlus 15 may come with a flat 6.78-inch LTPO display featuring a 1.5K resolution, which means the brand will remove the curved 2K screens seen since the OnePlus 7 Pro.
Currently, the OnePlus 15 is being tested with a triple 50MP camera setup as part of an A/B testing phase. The setup comes with a main sensor, with two variants under testing (standard and ultra-large), along with an ultra-wide lens and a periscope telephoto camera offering roughly 3x zoom. Both small and medium sensor types are being explored for the periscope camera options.
The OnePlus 15 is expected to launch in China in October 2025, with a global release slated for January 2026. While the price details are still not confirmed but we can expect that it might have the slightly higher then the previous version.
