The Indian government bans 200 apps out of which 134 are betting apps and the other 94 are loan lending apps. According to the reports by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology the banned apps have links to China. Hence to protect the privacy of the users the Indian government took a step to ban 200 betting and loan apps on urgent and emergency basis.
The sources state that the Indian government had already initiated the process. In order to stop the privacy leaks the issue is placed under the Section 69 of the Iat law. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) brought the new guidelines into action especially for lending firms. These guidelines avoid the increasing of credit limits of the users by lending apps. Also it made it necessary to take permissions for getting any data. After these guidelines it had become difficult for the apps to play with the privacy of users.
The step to ban the betting and loan apps is initiated as a result of complaints filed by many users. The users of loan lending apps had complained that the apps charged a huge interest on every loan. If not paid the debtors are being harassed and some even attempt suicides when they are not able to repay the debt with interest.Â
As there are no reports on what apps have been banned we haven’t mentioned those apps here. Apart from these other apps like tiktok, viva video, we chat etc are also banned in India due to some privacy issues and also proof of having some links with China. We are still waiting for the update on the betting and loan lending apps which are banned in India. You can find them here as soon as the reports are out.
