Samsung frequently adds innovative features to its devices just to drop them after a while. Making a resurgence with the Galaxy S26 Ultra's camera is one such feature.

Galaxy S26 Ultra might have a variable aperture.

Ice Universe, a tipster, claims that Samsung may include adjustable focus in the Galaxy S26 Ultra's camera. According to reports, this feature will only be accessible on the phone's primary rear camera. Despite not being the first to develop this function, Huawei and Xiaomi now provide it through their flagship phones.

Dual-aperture technology was first introduced by Samsung with the Galaxy S9 and S9+. Those phones might alternate between F1.5 and F2.4 based on the situation. The camera sensor receives more light when the F1.5 aperture setting is used, which reduces noise but also narrows the field of vision. When you require a broader field of vision, especially in daylight circumstances with plenty of light, the F2.4 aperture would be perfect.

With the Galaxy S20 series, Samsung discontinued the dual-aperture capability that was offered in the Galaxy S10 series. Samsung seems to have plans to introduce variable aperture with the Galaxy S26 series. The Miui 14 Ultra's multi-setting variable aperture and the Galaxy S9's dual-aperture (two settings) are not clearly distinguishable from one another.

The Galaxy S24 Ultra upgraded the telephoto camera's resolution to 50MP with a five times optical zoom, and the Galaxy S25 Ultra increased the ultrawide camera's resolution to 50MP. The resolution of the 3x zoom telephoto camera is anticipated to be increased to 50MP by Samsung with the Galaxy S26 Ultra.

According to rumors, the Galaxy S26 Ultra will also have a more power-efficient display and a silicon-carbon battery with a capacity of up to 5,500 mAh.
